Tips for Incorporating Amniotic Membranes Into Your Practice

August 15, 2018

Amniotic membranes can be used to aid treatment of conditions such as severe dry eye, infections, chemical burns, and procedures such as foreign body removal. Here’s how one doctor has incorporated this new treatment into his practice, and how it has helped patients and increased profitability.

ENHANCE TREATMENT. Amniotic membranes can be used to treat severe dry eye, and can speed recovery from ocular infections, injuries and foreign body removal.

BUILD MEDICAL EYECARE. Use of amniotic membranes is a good way to expand the medical eyecare you provide, giving patients more advanced care, and showing them you have the latest treatments available.

INCREASE PROFITABILITY. The membranes typically cost $500-$600 per pack, with Medicare reimbursing $1,500 per use, and private insurers reimbursing about $2,000.
