Medical eyecare is the future of optometry. It is a way to fully serve patients while exponentially growing a practice. As part of Keplr Vision I have had the opportunity to add advanced technology to my practice that enables me to deliver life-changing treatments to my patients with the peace of mind and fulfillment of knowing I am providing the highest level of care.

Delivering Advanced, Personalized Care
One of the greatest unmet eyecare challenges for patients and practices is ocular surface disease. To address this important patient need, I added the iLux® device to our office. We have seamlessly incorporated this technology into our practice as a treatment option for patients diagnosed with meibomian gland dysfunction.

A Practice-Builder: Easy to Implement with Big Results
There are many advantages to adding a technology like iLux into a patient’s treatment plan. In a busy practice, specialized medical eyecare treatments delivering cutting-edge care that is quick and non-invasive are especially valuable. Using heat and compression of the lids, this hand-held device has allowed me to administer treatments to significantly more patients without sacrificing the precise, customized care they expect from me.

The practice efficiency benefits from iLux are coupled with a strong return on investment, as treatments delivered with this device are private pay. In the managed-care environment in which most of today’s optometrists practice, patient-pay procedures can provide a great boost to profitability. Our practice’s investment in iLux was returned within three months, and it continues to provide profit-building revenues.

Staff-Wide Commitment to Patient Care
iLux is one of the many ways I work as a team with my support staff to deliver the care our patients need. When we integrated this technology into the practice, comprehensive in-office training took place to ensure everyone understood not only how the device works but also how to convey the benefits to our patients. We are one of the few eyecare practices in the area with the technology, and everyone in our office has been able to help promote this exciting solution to our patients.

Keep Patients Long-Term
The iLux device also provides tremendous practice-building potential. The ability to keep medical eyecare treatments in-house, rather than referring the patient to another practice, is essential. Twenty years ago I was referring out, but now I want to do as much as I can myself, thereby strengthening our life-long, generations-spanning patient base.

Additionally, iLux treatment typically requires repeated visits, giving patients a good reason to return for care to the office. So much the better when that care is not easily come by at other nearby offices. Dry eye is a common problem, but the technology that so easily–and speedily–provides effective treatment is not so common. Stand-out medical eyecare technology gives a practice a chance to be singular among neighborhood competitors.

The Partnership Facilitating this High Level of Medical Eyecare
When I partnered with Keplr Vision in 2019, I knew I wasn’t ready to retire yet. I wanted to continue building upon the care I was already providing. I knew I was delivering good care, but I was excited to see what a partner like Keplr Vision would do to take my practice to the next level. I could see the direction optometry was going–with a greater emphasis on medical eyecare–and wanted a partner with a deep commitment to continue pushing optometry forward and practicing full-scope care.

The integration of iLux technology in our office is just one of many examples of how Keplr Vision has helped us to become the medically focused eyecare practice I had long envisioned.

The Keplr Vision team understands what it means to run a business focused on advanced medical eyecare. Becoming a partner was a no-brainer for me. The care I provide for patients has surged to new heights, my staff is happy and eager to stick with us long-term, and most importantly, we are providing treatments that make a huge difference in people’s lives.
