Technology Available to Help Practices Maintain Social Distancing

July 15, 2020

Technology through a new web site is available that can help practices better manage the flow of patients in their office to maintain social distancing. Parking Lot Check In was designed to make it easy for practices to track, and communicate with, patients waiting outside the office for their appointment to begin.

The site allows offices to keep track of patients from the start of their appointment to the end. If a patient checks in on the practice web site, the site sends a notification immediately to the patient that the office has received their check-in, and notifies the office that a patient is waiting for them. Practices can then confirm the patient’s check in via a text/e-mail with one click, reassuring the patient that a real human has seen and acknowledged them.

Once the practice is ready, they can notify the patient that the office is ready for them, again with only one click, and a text/e-mail is sent to the patient to come into the office. Practices can then change the status of the patient, and watch their check-in move from the “In Parking Lot” section to the “In Office” section of the screen.

Once the visit is over, the practice changes the patient’s status from “In Office” to “Visit Complete,” again having the ability to see the check-in move from one part of the screen to the next.

After the appointment, the site allows practices to complete patient appointments with a thank you e-mail and text message emphasizing their appreciation for the patient’s cooperation in helping to maintain social distancing.
