Private equity’s investment in optometry is a multi-billion-dollar force that is reshaping optometric practice ownership. This mega-trend is being addressed in a series of teach-ins that will equip OD-owners to make the best possible transfer deal and to meet with potential buyers.
The series, “Demystifying Private Equity and Its Role in Optometry,” is created by Review of Optometric Business and is multi-sponsored by PE-backed companies.
Registration has opened for the first two teach-ins: Dallas on July 20 and Chicago on August 24. Additional dates and venues soon will be announced.
Program presenters are Michael Kling, OD, owner of Invision Optometry in San Diego, and Richard Edlow, OD, owner of Catonsville Eye Group in Maryland.
Participants will learn the strategies of PE-backed investors, and they will be instructed in how to compute their practice value, how to negotiate a transfer deal, and in how to prepare documents for transfer. Further, they can schedule one-on-one meetings with leading PE-backed companies.
