ODs on Facebook Raising Funds for Optometry Practices Damaged by Looting

July 8, 2020

Alan Glazier, OD, founder of ODs on Facebook, has established a GoFundMe for practices in the optometric community impacted by looting.

Many members of ODs on Facebook have shared images of damaged practices from around the country. Just as these  practices started to recover from COVID19 closures, they experienced this additional challenge.

Recognizing the heightened importance of tapping the community for support, Dr. Glazier launched a Go Fund Me “Ods on Fbook members Supporting Looted Practices.”

The goal is to raise $50,000 for optometric owners of impacted practices who are members of his Facebook community. At this writing the effort has raised over $35,000.

If you would like to support the ODs on Facebook effort to help practices impacted by looting, you can do so by clicking HERE.

Companies and individuals will be recognized in the community for their contribution at the end of the effort by ODs on Facebook. Companies donating over $250 will receive individual acknowledgements in the community.

If you are an independent doctor-owner and member of the community, who owns a practice which has been damaged, and would like to be considered for a share of the financial assistance, you can do so by finding the thread to include your name by searching the hashtag #gofundme while in the ODs on Facebook community. ODs on Facebook will contact you with a list of what you need in order to qualify for fund distribution. You may also e-mail your name and contact information to marci@odsonfb.com.

The total funds collected from the Go Fund Me will be divided between the total number of requests based on level of damage. ODs on Facebook will require copies of actual estimates, receipts and insurance estimates.
