The OD Excellence National Conference for 2013 will be held in San Diego, Calif., at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel on July 11-13. This year’s focus: Navigate Your Future: Innovate…Motivate…Succeed. The OD Excellence National Conference is intended to bring the leaders in the optometric, optical and ophthalmological community together for dynamic presentations and lively discussions with some of the nation’s most recognized optical industry speakers.
Conference 2013 will be the third annual for the Practice Enhancement group led by ODX CEO Jerry Lieblein, OD, and ODX Chairman Jerry Sude, OD. Dr. Lieblein and Dr. Sude, both successful optometrists and practice management consultants, saw a need in the eyecare community for an educational network providing practice management and medical management best practices, staff training and individual coaching.
“The feedback that we received from last year’s conference was great,” says Dr. Lieblein. “The one thing that really stood out was how much our members got out of information sharing and the ability to talk with other doctors who are facing the same challenges. That’s what we think really sets us apart.”
Added to this year’s conference will be six hours of practice management education along with 10 hours of medical management. The two hours of coaching opportunities with leading consultants brings the total to 18 hours of available presentations. In addition, there will be 13 hours of staff education from which a certificate of excellence may be earned.
“We are extremely fortunate to have Dr. John McGreal as our director of Professional Education,” says Sude. “He is recognized as the authority in the industry and will be leading the medical education.”
The practice management portion will feature a host of practice management experts led by Sam Quintero, OD, from the University of Houston. OD Excellence Director of Staff Education Rebecca Johnson has scheduled educators on certification and office management tools, emphasizing hands-on training in many aspects of the ophthalmic practice.
The conference will also include 70 premier vendors and alliance partners that will offer hands-on demos covering the latest technologies and solutions.
