Through his experience in banking, consulting and investing, Kahn has gained an understanding of the importance of delivering a great retail experience supported by strong technology. At the VM Summit, he will present lessons to be learned from consumer digital companies, such as:

• What constitutes a good consumer experience and case examples of effective consumer digital companies.
• Best practices by consumer companies integrating online and offline experiences to optimize the consumer experience.
• Where digital health companies are going wrong.
• Examples of digital health companies that are getting it right.
• Evaluation of how digital health companies can leverage the approach of consumer digital companies.

Kahn began his career at McKinsey and then he further developed his expertise in the consumer at Johnson & Johnson and Merck.

Michael Dowling is one of healthcare’s most influential voices, taking a stand on societal issues such as gun violence and immigration that many health system CEOs shy away from. As president and CEO of Northwell Health, he leads a clinical, academic and research enterprise with a workforce of more than 71,000 and annual revenue of $13.5 billion.

Northwell is the largest health-care provider and private employer in New York State, caring for more than two million people annually through a vast network of nearly 800 outpatient facilities, including 220 primary-care practices, 52 urgent-care centers, home care, rehabilitation and end-of-life programs, and 23 hospitals.

Joining Kahn and Dowling at the Summit will be several other speakers who have previously been announced.

Kip Webb, MD, MPH, has been successful in leading health-care reform as a pediatrician, professor and  business leader. He is an advocate for healthcare that is patient-centric, affordable, reliable and transparent.

At the VM Summit, Dr. Webb will provide insights about the evolutionary and revolutionary macro forces that are shaping the way healthcare is being provided, including politics, access, new funding mechanisms, consumerism, digital/IT and the social determinants of health. He will explain how these forces are shaping the provider agenda, strategy and investments both in the near term and longer term.

Also joining the Summit program is Stu MacFarlane, chief marketing officer for Internet Brands Health, which includes WebMD, Demandforce, Officite, iMatrix and Vitals. In addition to leading marketing efforts, MacFarlane is responsible for launching new consumer health businesses, including the recent launches of WebMD Care, and WebMD Labs.

The other speakers at the VM Summit are Mony Iyer, vice-president, specialty health-care services, Walmart Health and Wellness, who will share a look inside Walmart’s newest Health Center, which just opened in recent months and is offering a new approach to health-care services; Jennifer Esposito, vice-president, health for Magic Leap, who will discuss how the company is building the next generation of computing, spatial computing, creating 3D imagery to visualize data, run simulations and train doctors and other professionals; and Jo Natauri, partner and global head of health-care investing for Goldman Sachs’ Merchant Banking Division (MBD). Natauri will present the view from the vantage point of today’s major global investors toward the fast-changing health-care space, talking about which types of business models are getting their attention, and how consumer expectations and new technology is impacting the field.

The Vision Monday Global Leadership Summit is an exclusive live event that will be held March 25 at The Times Center in New York. Now in its 14th year, the VM Leadership Summit attracts senior industry executives, optical retailers, leading eyecare professionals, suppliers and key opinion leaders from the worldwide optical industry. The program, “The Future of Healthcare: Beyond 2020,” will illuminate the dynamic changes coming on stream in the health-care field and examine the opportunities for vision care and optical to play a broader, more significant role in it.
