CooperVision, Inc., has introduced the MyDay toric daily disposable contact lenses in the U.S.
The new addition to CooperVision’s silicone hydrogel daily disposable lens family brings together everything that practitioners and astigmatic patients need for an unprecedented daily disposable experience: the healthy advantages of silicone hydrogel,1 uncompromised comfort and handling, and excellent lens stability and visual acuity.
MyDay toric features the same groundbreaking Optimized Toric Lens Geometry found in Biofinity toric, providing uniform horizontal ISO thickness, an optimized ballast band design, large toric optic zone, and a smooth, continuous surface to make it an easy-to-fit,2 stable toric lens. Biofinity toric is a proven lens that keeps doctors and patients satisfied; over the last 18 months, more than 93 percent of Biofinity toric wearers in the U.S. remained in the brand.3 This represents the greatest retention of any brand on the market.
In addition, the MyDay family of lenses is made with Smart Silicone™ chemistry, an innovative technology that delivers a hybrid of benefits—the best of both hydrogel and silicone hydrogel lenses. Smart Silicone™ chemistry optimizes oxygen permeability in a lens that is just 4.4 percent silicon—the lowest percentage of silicon found in a silicone hydrogel, daily disposable lens.
By using less silicon, Smart Silicone chemistry leaves more room in the lens for hydrophilic (water loving) material, resulting in improved surface wettability, higher water content, and lower modulus for a softer, more comfortable lens-wearing experience. It also enables a modulus of only 0.4 MPa to make MyDayCooperVision’s softest ever 1-day silicone hydrogel contact lens. And while the lens provides the optimal softness of a hydrogel, it remains strong enough to ensure the exceptional handling of a silicone hydrogel lens.
“Ever since we brought MyDay to market in 2015, eyecare professionals have been asking when we would follow with MyDay toric,” says Michele Andrews, Senior Director of Professional and Academic Affairs, North America, CooperVision. “We worked alongside them, listened to their needs, and are excited to place this lens in their hands. MyDay toric provides practitioners the trusted Biofinity toric design features with the advanced technology of our premium one-day lens—it’s the best of both worlds.”
MyDay toric further expands CooperVision’s daily disposable portfolio, with practitioners able to select from the MyDay, clariti 1 day and Proclear 1 day families of 1-day lenses to provide exceptional options for just about every eye.
“Eyecare professionals now have the ability to significantly enhance their patients’ 1-day wearing experience when upgrading to MyDay toric from a 1-day toric hydrogel,” says Dr. Andrews.
Testing shows that MyDay toric not only offers immediate comfort at insertion, but has excellent comfort over the course of the day. The MyDay family of lenses is naturally wettable, without coatings or surface treatments. Built-in UV protection filters 85 percent of UVA and 96 percent of UVB rays,4 helping support long-term ocular health.
MyDay toric lenses are currently available in sphere powers from plano to -6.00D (0.25D steps), and -6.00 to -10.00D (0.50D steps), with cylinder options of -0.75D, -1.25D.

4 Warning: UV-absorbing contact lenses are not substitutes for protective UV-absorbing eyewear, such as UV-absorbing goggles or sunglasses, because they do not completely cover the eye and surrounding area. Patients should continue to use UV-absorbing eyewear as directed.
