How Many Parents Choose AR Treatment for their Children’s Glasses?

January 14, 2015

You might want to spend more time with parents of children patients explaining the benefits of anti-reflective lens treatments, findings from The Vision Council’s VisionWatch 2014 Parent Child Vision Care Report suggest. Just under 24 percent of parents said their child’s lenses possessed AR treatment. This is slightly lower than the 30 percent of AR treated lenses in the total population (which includes children and adult lenses). Parents with two or more children under the age of 18 living at home were slightly more likely to have purchased their children’s lenses with AR treatment and parents with managed vision coverage were far more likely to purchase AR treated lenses for their children than those without vision coverage. Also, parents from higher household incomes were more likely to say their child’s lenses possessed AR treatment than those from lower income households.

Now, think about the answers to these five questions:

  1. Is it time to raise your fees (especially on things not covered by third parties)?
  2. Are you leaving any money on the table with the third parties?
  3. Are maximizing your income from the vision insurance plans?
  4. Are your frames merchandised maximally in your optical?
  5. Do you have the right number of frames at each price point for your practice?
