Healthcare Reform: One-Year Delay of “Employer Mandate”

The employer mandate, which was supposed to go into effect on January 1, 2014, has been delayed until 2015. Under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, this legislation mandates individual businesses to offer insurance. Starting in 2015, employers that employ an average of 50 full-time employees must provide health coverage that meets minimum coverage requirements or pay a fine.
