Free Now to Registered Users: Software Platform Offering Concise Medication Information at the Point of Prescribing

Sept. 1, 2021

EyeMedsNow, a newly updated software service designed to provide informed decision-making at the point of care by allowing access to concise medication information for any drug prescribed for eye conditions, is now free for registered users.

The platform was built by experts from optometry, ophthalmology and pharmacy, according to the company. It is powered by a search system that allows for drugs to be filtered by condition, classification or keyword. Over 100 ocular conditions and dozens of drug classifications are preloaded into the search criteria for quick access.

Search results come in the form of “drug cards,” which include critical prescribing information that is not found as easily through any other resource: route of administration, container sizes, drug details including warnings and precautions and a hyperlink to GoodRx to give the prescriber insights on local pharmacy pricing.

Other features include a dosing calculator for calculating the recommended dose based on patient weight and medication strength, as well as additional data pages with a comprehensive list of over-the-counter tears and lid hygiene products.

Use of EyeMedsNow complements the use of EHR technology and its integrated e-prescribing system, the company says. Since EyeMedsNow is available through any internet browser on any connected device, it can be simultaneously viewed with prescribing systems to give clarity on the right medication for the condition being treated. EyeMedsNow can reduce the time to prescribe medications and increase provider insights into the choices of the right drug for the presenting condition.

The platform is available for free to any registered user, and accessed through any desktop, laptop or mobile device at http://www.eyemedsnow.com.

The company says that those who will find high value in EyeMedsNow include ODs and their staff, ophthalmologists and their staff, and any optometry students or those students in school for medicine, nursing and other health professions.
