IDOC Practice Finance Consultant Nathan Hayes recently shared that after a hard call with an owner’s wife who manages their practice (a call that involved fearful tears about how uncertain and dangerous these times feel), Nathan let her know that IDOC would continue to send out regular updates and advice. She said: “Thank you so much. I am so scared, but I can’t tell you what a comfort it’s been to have IDOC communicating with us and being there for us. It’s meant so much.”

That sums up how IDOC is responding to the COVID-19 situation for our members–we will be there for them during these critical moments, and when we all rebound. For rebound we will; as independent practices will re-open, and once again provide all the quality eyecare their patients need.

When the crisis began to manifest itself in Connecticut, where IDOC is headquartered, we moved quickly on several fronts. All our efforts to-date to help independent practices can be accessed at www.idoc.net and our COVID-19 Resource Center. There you will find information in a variety of formats – FAQs, podcasts, short videos, blogs, scripts, a cash flow spreadsheet calculator, Facebook Live recordings and so much more. This information is updated regularly, and we encourage all to visit the page often.

IDOC has always been a resource for our members beyond its rebates, discounts and

education. In the past three years we have added consulting expertise, dashboards and utilizing EDGEPro® metrics to act upon those critical business analytics via our complimentary IDOC InsiderTM program, peer-to-peer learning opportunities and valued added services in human resources and marketing.

All our resources are now being focused on a coordinated COVID-19 response. One example is an immediate pivot from local study group meetings that were held in restaurants to Virtual Study Groups. IDOC is now hosting 3-5 virtual study groups per week, with our members sharing insights, fears and hopes via Zoom meetings, moderated by IDOC employees and attended and supported by IDOC strategic vendor partners.

We have helped our members greatly in the early stages of the crisis and we are ready to help them even more when the reopening and rebound occurs. In fact, we have made all materials we are creating open to any independent OD regardless of membership in IDOC.

This situation requires that we all work together, share our learnings widely and help all eyecare businesses/practices be ready to respond to the patient needs and demand that WILL be there again in the very near future.

IDOC is proud of what we have done so far, but we know there is much hard work ahead and we are putting our resources to work on the challenges we face ahead. Let us know how we can help you by e-mailing us at info@idoc.net.
