Nov. 22, 2017

Bausch + Lomb has launched expanded parameters of Bausch + Lomb ULTRA for Astigmatism contact lenses. This expansion will extend the lens parameter offering to +6.00D to -9.00D in 0.25D steps (in 0.50D steps above -6.00D) in cylinder powers of -0.75D, -1.25D, -1.75D, -2.25D and axes of 10°-180˚ (in 10˚ steps), “providing eyecare professionals the opportunity to offer more of their astigmatic patients an exceptional toric lens that features all-day comfort, stability and consistently clear vision,” according to the company.

“My astigmatic patients continue to be impressed with Bausch + Lomb ULTRA for Astigmatism contact lenses and the level of comfort and vision clarity they’re provided throughout the day,” says Mile Brujic, OD, partner of Premier Vision Group in Bowling Green, Ohio. “Having access to the expanded parameters will allow me to offer even more of my patients this exceptional lens and help those who experience symptoms such as dryness, blurred vision and glare.”

Results from a survey of contact lens wearers who were prescribed Bausch + Lomb ULTRA for Astigmatism contact lenses show that patients overwhelmingly agree that they provide an outstanding lens-wearing experience. Specifically:

91 percent of wearers agreeing the lenses are comfortable all day long;
93 percent of wearers agreeing the lenses provide consistently clear vision throughout the day;
93 percent of wearers agreeing the lenses reduce halos and glare, even in low-light conditions, and;
96 percent of wearers agreeing the lenses provide comfortable vision even when looking for a long time at a smartphone or tablet.

“At Bausch + Lomb, we strive to develop innovative contact lenses that help eyecare professionals provide their patients outstanding comfort, vision and health,” says John Ferris, general manager, U.S. Vision Care, Bausch + Lomb. “Bausch + Lomb ULTRA for Astigmatism lenses were designed to work with the natural blink of patients’ eyes to ensure excellent stability and reduce halos and glare through our unique spherical aberration control. Now with the availability of a new, expanded power range, which includes over 1,000 more parameters than Acuvue Vita for Astigmatism lenses, we’re excited that additional patients may benefit from the exceptional all-day comfort and consistently clear vision these lenses offer.”
