“Build Your Practice with a Network of Colleagues”

August 23, 2017

Building a network of ODs within your greater community provides opportunities to improve your skills and services and build a successful practice, say Rex Werner, OD, and Aaron Werner, OD. In their San Diego region, independent ODs have developed a sharing network, and in the process they have raised awareness within the medical community of optometry’s full potential.

Develop a Network of Optometric Colleagues
Educate the Medical Community About Optometry

CONSULT ON MEDICAL EYECARE. Ask other local ODs their opinion on challenging medical eyecare cases.

SHARE MERCHANDISING IDEAS. Talk about what has worked best in optical retail and marketing.

JOIN ALLIANCE. Meet regularly to discuss how to better your practices, and better serve patients.

EDUCATE ON FULL-SCOPE OPTOMETRY. Let local MDs know that you do more than refraction and contact lenses.

SEND REPORTS TO MDS. Send primary care physicians, and other MDs you co-manage with, detailed reports about patients seen, including information on the diagnostic technology used.

ESTABLISH DIALOGUE. Forge ongoing relationships with local MDs, and let patients know you are communicating regularly with their other doctors.
