American Optometric Association (AOA) members have the opportunity to participate in a milestone U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) workshop on myopia progression that will bring together internationally renowned scientists and clinicians.
Co-sponsored by the FDA Center for Devices and Radiological Health, AOA and other trade associations, the “Controlling the Progression of Myopia: Contact Lenses and Future Medical Devices” workshop will be hosted at the FDA headquarters in Silver Spring, Md. on Sept. 30, 2016.
Discussion topics include:
• Myopia abroad, demographics and history
• Pediatric contact lens use, behaviors and hygiene
• Complications of contact lens use
• Devices used to control myopia and U.S. regulation of such devices
• Challenges to clinical trials, and barriers to participation and retention
