Alcon Commits $2 million to Think About Your Eyes

April 13, 2016

Alcon announced its second year of support for the Think About Your Eyes public awareness campaign. Alcon has committed a total of $4 million to Think About Your Eyes since 2014.

The national campaign, presented by The Vision Council and the American Optometric Association, is designed to educate the public about the benefits of eye health and promote the importance of getting an annual comprehensive eye exam. As a Leadership Partner and the only major contact lens manufacturer supporting the campaign, Alcon works closely with Think About Your Eyes to provide insights and educational information to the public about a number of eye care topics.

“Our passion is helping people see, look and feel their best, and this campaign’s efforts align with our goals at Alcon,” says Eric Bruno, vice-president and general manager, Alcon Vision Care, U.S. “So many eye health and other health issues can be uncovered through a comprehensive eye exam, and this campaign helps to educate the public about the importance of eye exams as part of their healthcare routine.”

Annual eye exams in the U.S. grew 3 percent in 2015, after activation of the Think About Your Eyes national media campaign. Think About Your Eyes comes to life through national television, radio, print and online/digital advertising to share information about eye disease, eye strain, children’s vision and how regular eye exams can positively affect overall health. The campaign is designed to encourage consumers to schedule an eye exam by visiting ThinkAboutYourEyes.com.

The site, which has received more than 2 million visitors, features a locator tool where visitors can easily find local eyecare providers.

“We need more visionary companies like Alcon who see the vital role that Think About Your Eyes plays in growing eye health and eye exams in the U.S.,” says Dave Plogmann, managing director of Think About Your Eyes. We are grateful for their continued support and category leadership.”
