ABB OPTICAL GROUP Meets Goals for Charity Donations in 2013

ABB OPTICAL GROUP has reached its goal for 2013 and raised over $130,000 for Optometry Giving Sight and other local and national charities such as the American Cancer Society and the United Way.

Optometry Giving Sight is the only global fundraising initiative that specifically targets the prevention of blindness and impaired vision due to uncorrected refractive error–simply the need for an eye examination and glasses. ABB OPTICAL GROUP has endorsed Optometry Giving Sight as its International Charity of Choice and has been recognized by the organization as a Silver National In Kind Sponsor.

For World Sight Day (WSD) in October, ABB OPTICAL GROUP raised over $7,000. The executive team purchased a World Sight Day bracelet for every employee in the company to wear on WSD. The rest of the funds were raised by the employees who also sold bracelets at $3 each.

Primary Eyecare Network (PEN) the practice development division of ABB OPTICAL GROUP, has 36 PEN practices donating amounts from $15 to $100 monthly to Optometry Giving Sight. In 2013, those members collected over $10,500. For World Sight Day, PEN Board Member, Dr. Troy Humprheys’ practice in Nevada, raised over $1,000. Debbie Oseguera, PEN’s director of operations in charge of charitable fundraising notes: “Our PEN members continually exceed our expectations in regard to charitable giving.”

ABB OPTICAL GROUP and PEN also include an Optometry Giving Sight donation button on their web sites to encourage ECPs to donate. Anyone interested in donating can do so by going to www.givingsight.org/donate.
