Word of mouth is the number one way new patients come to your practice. We always need to be on the lookout for new and creative ways to create positive buzz about the practice.

One way to do this is to be more creative in how we say “thank you” to our patients. There is an interesting article, “25 Ways to Thank Your Customers,” that can give us some direction.

Since actions carry more weight than words, here are five actions you can take that say thank you.

Start a Loyalty Program
Create a VIP program for your most loyal patients. Amazon Prime and Zappos Rewards are popular because people love to be viewed as special. Your program does not have to be complex, it can be as simple as a discount on the patient’s anniversary.

Write a Note
When was the last time you received a handwritten note? How did you feel? The note should be specific and personal. Your note will make your patient’s day.

Give Some Swag
Print amazing custom logo t-shirts, smartphone cases, or even koozies. The key is that they need to be usable and reusable items that not only say thank you, but carry your message on to others as well.

Give a Great Read
Give a book with a personalized note inside the cover so your patient knows it’s just for them. It’s best if the book had meaning to you. This opens the door for interesting conversations next time you see the patient.

Reward Social Media-Savvy Customers
Create a system where patients can build loyalty points by providing feedback through social channels or using platforms that make sense for your practice. If you need ideas in this area, read this article: “6 Ways Web Check-ins Can Benefit Your Brand.”

Start this week saying “Thank You” to your patients in creative ways and watch the buzz grow around town as people talk about your practice.
