Peter Kehoe, OD, of Kehoe Eye Care in Galesburg, Ill., prescribes eyeglasses to patients in the exam room just as he would prescribe a medication. At the end of each exam he presents a "patient summary" outlining the patient's eye health and visual needs and the treatment plan he recommends. The optician is summoned to the exam to also hear the patient summary and guide the patient to the dispensary, where the optician reviews the doctor's recommendations.
